Every year starting in April all the way through November, flowboarders from all over the world compete on the FLOW Tour. This isn’t new, but the thing that will be new in 2020 is that Nationals and the World Flowboarding Championships will both be held in one place – Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark in Grand Prairie, TX.
Epic Waters is an award-winning, 80,000-square foot, resort-styled, indoor-outdoor waterpark that offers year-round operations delivered courtesy of an enormous retractable roof and a climate-controlled wintertime interior. The venue is the largest indoor waterpark under a single retractable roof in North America.
This venue has 11 waterslides, (three of which are waterpark industry firsts), the longest indoor action river in Texas, a children’s play area that’s equipped with an aquatic fort, a FlowRider® Double of course, a 45-game arcade, a café, full-service bar, private event space, table-service cabanas, and much more.
Epic Waters, by the way, is no stranger to hosting events. This past FLOW Tour season the Epic team took a “normal” regional leg/qualifying event and elevated it into a three-day surfing-themed festival called “FlowaPalooza.”
“We are absolutely thrilled to select Grand Prairie’s Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark for the National and World Championships in 2020. Richard Coleman and his team took what is typically a single-day event and created a themed, multi-day festival centered around the flowboarding competition that highlighted the sport and the spirit of the flowboarding athletes,” said Marshall Myrman, FlowRider, Inc. Leader. “FlowaPalooza truly was epic, with plenty of So-Cal touches and activities for fans and competitors alike.”
The FlowRider team can’t wait to collaborate with the Epic team again this year. There is no doubt that these events will draw big crowds – competitors and spectators alike. It is literally an entire weekend of good, clean, family fun!
“FlowaPalooza was a lot of fun and a big success for the waterpark, drawing more than 9,000 guests, many of whom had never been to Epic Waters or experienced flowboarding before,” said Richard Coleman, CEO of American Resort Management, the waterpark’s operator. “We were honored to be chosen as a regional venue for the FLOW Tour in our second year of operations—and clearly it’s an even bigger honor and thrill to be selected the very next year to host two of the sport’s most high-profile events. We’re ready to take things to the next level, and excited about the prospect of welcoming new guests from across the U.S. and around the world for what we guarantee will be memorable, world-class events.”
