Good friends, good drinks and good eats is what you can expect at this year’s FlowRider® FLOW Tour World Flowboarding Championships hosted by Surf House Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Oh, and of course, the world’s best flowboarders!
This will be the first time ever that the FLOW Tour’s most prestigious end-of-the-year event will be hosted in the Dominican Republic. The entire flowboarding community and hosting venue could not be more ecstatic.
“We want to do it right and we are very, very excited,” says Abraham Bencid, Surf House Punta Cana Marketing Director.
Regional FLOW Tour Qualifiers from the USA, Asia, Europe, and Canada will proudly fly their flags for team competition. There will also be some top contenders and challengers from all corners of the planet; they too want to battle it out for the $10,000 cash purse and the honor of being the individual 2018 FlowRider World Flowboarding Champion (WFC) in their respective division. The weekend-long contest will feature Men’s Pro Flowboard & Bodyboard and Women’s Pro Flowboard.
“It’s always a show when the best riders are in the house. Local spectators will be in awe!” explains Adam Muller, FLOW (Flowboarding League Of the World) Event Manager. “Grab a cold beverage, order some food and pull up a chair!” Muller always encourages.
Also for the first time ever, local competitors and amateur guests will be invited to join the trials competition with a chance to earn a spot in the WFC main event. Top qualifying riders from each division will represent FLOW Team Dominican Republic!
“We are very excited to see local competitors defend their home wave and challenge the world’s best!” mentioned Rob Chalfant, Head Judge. “Flowboarding is an addictive sport and once you get a taste of competition, the thrill is real,” Chalfant adds.
Surf House, located in the heart of Punta Cana, is a must-visit destination not only for flowboarders, but for all travel enthusiasts that visit the Dominican Republic.
Inside Downtown Mall, a super attractive shopping center, Surf House is known for its relaxing vibe and night life. The venue will be transformed into a competitive arena with the brand new FlowRider Double sheet wave dead center! The competition runs from November 9th-11th (Fri-Sun) at Surf House Punta Cana, featuring tons of action on and off the wave, including practice sessions, wave shows, flow with a pro opportunities and top tier competitive Flowboarding. When there is a break in the competition, there are plenty of restaurants and entertainment venues to keep the good vibes flowing.
“This is what flowboarders live for…traveling to unique destinations, following their passion and riding FlowRiders all over the world,” explains current World Champion, Sean Silveira. Sean was onsite during the SHPC Grand Opening Event and said the lifestyle was a dream and has been eager to return ever since.
